During the visit of the Hon’ble prime minister of Bangladesh, to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) in October 2018, a MOU was signed on 17th October 2018 concerning ‘PRINCIPLES OF COOPERATION’ between Engineering Dimension (ED) of Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) and further a strategic partnership agreement was signed on 20th December 2018 for setting up a joint venture cement project in Bangladesh. Accordingly, Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC-A Government of Bangladesh Enterprise) and Engineering Dimension International Investment LLC (EDII- A Saudi led enterprise with Global Investors) signed a historic JV agreement on 29 June 2020 despite the difficult times and restrictions faced due to COVID-19 pandemic paving the way to set up Saudi Bangla Integrated Cement Company Limited (SBICCL). With these directives, SBICCL was incorporated in Dhaka with an ambitious plan to set up a modern clinker and cement plant which has three critical dimensions:
- 12,000 TPD Clinker Line
- 3,000 TPD Grinding Unit
- Long Belt Conveyor of 18 Kms
Bangladesh Chemical Industries Company
Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC), fully owned by the Government of Bangladesh, was established in July, 1976 by a presidential Order.
